To love her
Is to feel her fingers interlaced in yours when there is nothing there
To adore her
Is to smile at her laughter as it makes clouds in the chilly winter air

Feel your heart beat—finally aware
When you see her face you smile,
Though you may deny that you so deeply care
Just wait, it'll come to you in a while

To love her
Is to see her and feel your cheeks go red
To adore her
Is to know she's the only person in your head

Feel your world becoming safe but so insane
Don't try to ignore the love that's growing
You must admit, though at one time it seemed inane
You have fallen for her, without ever knowing

To love her
Is to close your eyes and hum along whenever she sings
To adore her
Is to think of her as one of life's beautiful, passionate things

Blood courses through you like never before
You know that this feeling is true
You speak to her and find you want to hear her words more
You know now, she's taken hold of you

To love her
Is to feel happy when you imagine talking together the whole night through
To adore her
Is to feel unstoppable when you imagine her saying "I love you, too"
This isn't just a poem for a crush, but a general look at what it means to feel that way about someone. It's a brief "analysis" (if you could call it that) of loving someone. It's what it's like to have a crush.
Written in 2011, it's my favorite of the "romantic" poems I've written.
